Lipe, like Phi Phi, extreme examples perhaps, but is frustrating how no lessons ever seem to be learned, or, that what has been learned elsewhere isn’t applied until the horse has well and truly bolted.
Yeah, that was how Ko Lanta struck me. I didn't love some of the the huge/fancy places right along the beach but much of it was still quite nice and integrated. And it was very easy to spend our money directly with locals, which was very important. As for lessons being learned, well, I'm in Sarajevo right now and just took a walking tour and the young man referenced the "Never forget" mantra from the Holocaust, gestured in the direction of Ukraine and sadly said, "Never learn" is much more like it.
