The first time I visited Mae Sot was years ago, when I rode the Mae Hong Son Loop and just kept heading south. Around 60 kilometres shy of Mae Sot, riding down Route 105, the enormous refugee camp Mae La appeared on my right. This was my first in-person view of the “Burma situation”.
