Indonesia raya !! That said, I have been there and have marvelled at it, in fact, more so than Angkor and the Khmer sites that are certainly spectacular. Bagan is different again and an area I have been privileged to visit on many occasions always marvelling at it. So would I pay $100 to see Borobudur again? Yes. Its an experience as well as a sacred site, although the latter feeling has long since departed. What would the Buddha think? He never wanted statues made of himself. IMO, his was a philosophy on life as much as a religion. He'd probably simply not care.
I have to say that such a policy may work with the "tour groups" where the cost gets lost in the total and those with particular interests. I imagine though pricing like this is simply not going to work with the many/most of those traveling independently they may pay through the nose once but avoid other attractions of which Indonesia has many. "Shooting yourself in the foot" springs to mind
