Haha, I think I've seen the monkey brain thing in the 'faces of death' film series once. We rented them on vcr as kids (to scare ourselves) and I wondered what became of them but apperently some Birmese boatowner uses them as on-board entertainment then 🙈😅
the Chindwin is still on our to-do list. your couchfishery sure makes us want to get ready and go 😁(lately we got diverted to the Mergui archipelago by our friends.) did a similar trip in Rakhine state some years ago. some giant cranes flying over the boat on our way were quite the sight.

Hi Peter, Ah yes, the name of that show rings a bell—that could have been it. Was truly bizarre. Cheers!
Your Burmese boat trip reminded me of a similar trip from Mytikina to Bhamo 10+yrs ago. But, cannot beat the monkeys brains.
Monkey brains are hard to beat indeed! That trip to Bhamo must have been pretty special. Cheers!
OMG! The boat boarding picture. Not that different from boarding a commercial plane in Asia. Great!
Hi Ginny, Ha ha yes, complete madhouse!

Yes, it is a beautiful trip—I wish we’d had the time to go further upriver.
Trying to decide if the monkey brains video is better or worse than seeing reruns of Matrix or Friends in Vang Vieng among drunk foreigners.
Too close to call!
