Don't judge all missionaries the same. There are plenty who do quite a bit of good as an expression of their faith, not to promote it. And don't judge missionaries by Fred either, because Fred's actions were solely for his own benefit, not as an expression of faith or out of any sincere desire to help anyone else. He just used them as props to stroke his own ego.

But my larger concern with this story is this: "What is wrong with Cabbages & Condoms?"

Ha ha, yeah there is nothing wrong with C&C, but I’d say there are plenty of better places to eat.

God, I can't stand missionaries. I'd have been tempted to chuck him under the train.

Good intentions don’t always make for the best outcome. Globally, we often see folk doing things ‘to’ local people, instead of working ‘with’ the community. NGO’s that actually make an impact work from the bottom up over a long period of time. Unfortunately, Fred was misguided by his arrogance. Sorry Fred, you were!
