The boat from Koh Kong to Sihanoukville (and the one to Sre Amble) may not have been a lot of fun but in those days the road trip was something of an uncomfortable and slow adventure. Dirt road from Koh Kong to Sre Amble with 4 rivers crossings where the van has to be loaded onto "boats" to cross the river. I do not know if it is still running but there was a boat you could take from Koh Kong to Trapung Rung (two or three times a week) that delivered goods and passengers to the villages and that was an idyllic 6 hour trip
