I have been working in Travel Business for 50 years and travel in Thailand for 20 years telling my friends about my trips With Pictures and tips in my social media. As soon i was start read you first letter i felt i was in Bangkok With my heart and soul walking around in China Town. Great With the informative links. I really Looking forward to follow your letters. Great job Stuart . Mr Per.G. Norway/Nakhon Sawan.
Thanks Stuart. Love Bangkok. Love Chinatown. Love the river. Never combined in all in 1 hotel!! Greta way for us to stay connected to travelfish and dream, congrats
Agree! Think is such a great way to experience Bangkok - or any city for that matter. At Loy La Long I’d wake at like 3am and the reflections across the River were just gorgeous.
Fantastic start to this creative trip! I like the personalized approach and the content length is just right (IMO). Great links to a variety of interesting and helpful sources of information. The food search is impressive and I’d love to check out that hotel over the river! Already looking forward to day 2... thanks for this, Stuart!
Hey Jeremy, Yes a map is on the way, I’m just concentrating on getting this new ahhh writing routine under control first ha ha—the 9am deadline seemed like a good idea at the time. The posts will be ordered as per the trip, so a few more days in Bangkok, then Ayutthaya, then (grits teeth) Lopburi and so on. Cheers!
This is an excellent use of getting us back to finding older travelfish content too. I for one have discovered a handful of new places to visit in Chinatown (I've eaten there a handful of times, and really only go there to buy cashew nuts... more to discover!). Thank you Stuart!
Yep. This was exactly what I was after when I replied to your survey Stuart. It has been a long time since travelling round Thailand as a young solo female so this more personalised post makes for an enjoyable read. As an older duo now, who definitely prefer overland travel, we look forward to your thoughts and feedback on the rest of Asia. Great initiative.
Loved the start of this "trip"! Bkk's Chinatown is so intriguing, exciting, and then... there's the food 😱😱😱. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's my absolute favorite area, but it's certainly top 3. Cheers!
Thanks Martin. It is such a great mix like you say, and so many hidden away spots. Like the hotel I mention, you need to walk through a wat compound to reach it!
Yeah that building—Hello Bangkok! The story I linked to about it was pretty interesting—I never realised it had been voted one of the ugliest buildings in the world haha!
Nice. :) The arrival reminds me of my first time in Thailand, pre-Suvarnabhumi. I’ve only scratched the surface of Chinatown, this definitely gives me the incentive to delve more.
Hi Paul. Yeah, it took me years to even begin to get a handle on Chinatown—so much time lost on Khao San Road ha ha. But it is just such a tremendous area to get up, drink some coffee and then spend the entire day just getting lost. Love it. Thanks for the comment.

Per, that’s a lovely thing to say— thank you so much!
Good job you are absolutely right a good place to see Bangkok
Oh this is just lovely! I love to stay in Chinatown when in Bangkok and with this piece I realise I've more to explore there...
Thank you! I’ve been visiting Chinatown for years and yet, every visit, I find something new. A really fascinating part of the city.
Loving this series! I have not seen anyone else doing this kind of blog right now! Keeps the travel dreams alive!
Thank you!

Thanks a lot! Yes, that hotel is so fab, and you’re right it is all three things wrapped into the one. Cheers
Can never go wrong by starting your trip on a river. That hotel? Bonus round.

Hi Beth, thank you—glad you liked it! A lot more food on the way :)
Hey Stuart, loving your trip so far! Bangkok is epic ;-) Maybe you could write about my favourite place - the amulet market?

(Jeremy's son age 9 and a half)
Hi Joe! I haven’t seen you since Ko Pha Ngan! Yup will probably hit the Amulet Market the day after tomorrow. Lets see how we go! Cheers!
Hi Stuart
That was so long ago!
I’m reading your trip every day with dad. He says there are some great little food places right next to the river in the amulet market too!
Byeeeee!!!

Hey Stu...
We had so much fun in Chinatown last summer... :-) Particularly as I had to buy new pants and shirts because Lufthansa had lost my luggage!
Being a bit nerdy here. Would be great to be able to navigate between different days as you add more of them. (No idea how you do that?)
And a map of your route?
Basically it's all about the context - "Today Stu is on Ko Phan Ngan, yesterday he was in Bangkok". Know what I mean?
J

As we’re in Europe we don’t mind if you post a bit later 😆

Thanks Lindy! Glad to hear you enjoyed it, working on tomorrow’s issue right now :)

You knew you were in Bangkok once the elephant building popped into view.

Love the links you have on here, especially the food search one! I enjoyed reading day one for sure.
Thanks Aaron!
