Thanks. I saw a kinda editorial piece by Murphy maybe a year back which **really** put me off anything else she had ever written. Will look up Morris. Title tips welcome!
Because I am holed up in Mexico escaping the pandemic, I picked up Mary Morris's Nothing to Declare: Memoirs of a Woman Traveling Alone. In the 1970s she traveled through Mexico and Central America by herself, some trips I wouldn't even do today. Personal development, interesting characters, lyrical descriptions and a touch of magical realism; I enjoyed it thoroughly and will read her other books.
I am very, very bad at reading travel books, but Dervla Murphy and Jan Morris are two highly regarded female travel writers.
